Wow, this New-Year's-as-a-holiday thing is lovely, isn't it? You go back to work, right after Christmas, still all run-down and grumbling about not getting a proper day off, and you get all stretched to your breaking point with the filing and the clients(or would-be clients)yelling at you and hanging up the phone, and then, POW! A for-real holiday, and a three-and-a-half day weekend. And eggrolls and bad movies. And photogenic snow. Good things.
Also, maybe one of your angelic (PhD-candidate) friends agrees to write you a letter of recommendation on VERY short notice so your grad applications aren't all "incomplete" due to one of your recommenders flaking out on you. Or maybe that's just me, and all of your grad apps went off without a hitch. I really hope so.
Also, Christmas was good. (I'm afraid my New Year's resolution is laundry-related, not better-blog-upkeep-and-more-details-about-daily-life-related. Sorry.)
